KIA

In Memory of Fallen Heroes

2nd Squadron, 1st Cavalry

(First Regiment of Dragoons)

(“Blackhawks”)

“Look deeply into my black granite face and see yourself in the reflection – your face, super-imposed on names. Never forget the names, the names, the names – for they hold the answer.”

Terrence O’Donnell, Esq. (USAF)

Vietnam (1969-70)

This section contains the names of fallen Blackhawk troopers who served with the Squadron in Vietnam from 1967 – 70. These troopers made the ultimate sacrifice in the military service of our country. They gave their lives on the battlefield or in some rare cases lost their lives in non-combatant situations.

Even among those of us who answered our country’s call to military service, we can still debate the “correctness” of the Vietnam War. And that debate will continue for generations to come. However, no one can debate that many, many American lives were lost during this war.

When you read this section, please note the ages and hometowns of these troopers. This will surely leave you with the impression that many young troopers were lost and no locale was spared.

For those of you who personally knew these fallen Blackhawks, please recall the “good” times you had with them. And always, always, keep their memory and spirit alive in your heart.

(Please note: Thanks to all you have shared memories to make this possible. Every attempt has been to collect the names of all, but with the passage of time there is always the possibility that some troopers have been overlooked. This section will be updated as new names are remembered.)
